Bridging Gaps in Trauma Care: Assessing Trauma-Informed Communication in the Trauma Bay

This cross-sectional study evaluated trauma-informed care (TIC) delivery during initial trauma bay assessments at six level I trauma centers, finding inconsistent application of basic and empathetic communication practices. Spanish-speaking patients received fewer introductions, verbal and physical reassurances, and were less likely to undergo complete physical examinations compared to English-speaking patients, highlighting disparities in trauma care communication and patient-centeredness.
