Severe Hypertriglyceridemia: New Therapies and Evolving Understanding
Severe hypertriglyceridemia (TG >500 mg/dL) affects ~1 in 88 adults and carries risks of pancreatitis and cardiovascular disease. Novel therapies targeting apoC-III, notably plozasiran siRNA, demonstrate dramatic TG reductions and pancreatitis risk mitigation. Pediatric management remains guideline-limited. Standardization of definitions is needed.
