Background
Total thyroidectomy, a common surgical intervention for benign and malignant thyroid disorders, carries a significant risk of postoperative hypoparathyroidism, resulting from inadvertent damage or devascularization of the parathyroid glands. This complication can lead to hypocalcemia, requiring prolonged calcium supplementation and hospitalization.
